I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan working on issues related to public opinion and political behavior through the lens of religious and racial identity. My scholarship pays special attention to the determinants and consequences of political discrimination against minoritized communities.
Before joining the University of Michigan, I worked at Michigan State University, served as the Winant Visiting Professor of American Government at the Rothermere American Institute at Oxford, and spent time both as a visiting researcher and a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Government at Uppsala University.
My research has been published in academic venues, including American Political Science Review, The Journal of Politics, Political Psychology, Political Behavior, Cambridge University Press, and more. My work has been featured in numerous media outlets, and has received support from a variety of funders, including: The Swedish Research Council (VR), Facebook, National Science Foundation, Formas, the Social Science Research Council, and the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard.
